How to Feel Less Awkward in Front of the Camera
Feeling awkward in front of the camera is normal. Most people are not professionally photographed often, and many arrive worried that they will not know what to do.
You do not need to know how to pose
That is part of the photographer’s job. Good direction gives you simple adjustments one step at a time instead of expecting you to perform.
Start with the use
Knowing where the image will appear makes the session easier. A LinkedIn photo, team bio, speaker profile, and creative portrait all need slightly different energy.
Expect small adjustments
Most useful direction is practical: shoulders, chin, posture, expression, weight, hands, and where to look. Small changes can make the image feel more natural.
Give yourself time
If you know you need a few minutes to settle, say so. Rushing camera-shy people rarely helps. A calmer pace often creates a better final image.

Plan the next step
Tell Gareth what you need photographed, how many people are involved, and where the images will be used. He can recommend a structure that fits the project.
